2020 R4AR - Cancelled due to COVID-19
Planning for our Summer 2020 fundraising rock concert event had been underway since January – however due to COVID-19 we were unable to host our event this year due to the pandemic and provincial health officers orders to limit larger gatherings. We were also very aware of the emotional and financial toll this pandemic has had on our many supporters, donors and sponsors.
While our fundraising event required taking a pause this year, we know all too well that cancer did not take a pause during the pandemic crisis. Patients still requiring regular treatments were finding themselves with unanticipated expenses for accommodation, food, and increased transportation costs. While physical distancing requirements worked to safeguard these patients, an unfortunate side-effect was that many important services, like the Cancer Lodges and volunteer driver programs had been forced to close.
For this reason, Rock 4 A Reason Charitable Society wanted to support cancer patients during this unprecedented time and set up an online fundraiser to help respond to the needs of this population so they could safely get the care and treatment they deserve.
We are proud to have raised $6,500.00 for the COVID-19 response fund to assist financially compromised cancer patients and their families with grocery gift cards, taxi vouchers, accommodation costs and other expenses. 100% of our fundraising effort went towards supporting local and Vancouver Island patients accessing care at the BC Cancer Centre in Victoria.

2019 R4AR Summer Charitable Concert
In our 2019 event season, we partnered several of Canada’s brightest up-and-coming musicians with established veteran performers to provide an evening of exciting entertainment and fun activities to help fund this year’s goal.
This year promises to be an amazing evening with an exciting double headline act you’re sure to enjoy, including:

Rock 4 A Reason raised an incredible $87,816.25. This went to support the BC Cancer Foundation’s efforts to fund world-leading immunotherapy research being conducted at BC Cancer – Victoria designed to dramatically enhance immune system response to cancer through three innovative clinical trials targeting reproductive (ovarian, cervical and endometrial) and blood (lymphoblastic leukemia) cancers.

2018 R4AR Summer Charitable Event
Our inaugural Rock 4 A Reason event was held in August and featured several of Canada’s brightest up-and-coming musicians along with world-class veteran performers to provide an evening of exciting entertainment.
We were pleased that rock legend and Canadian Music Hall of Fame artist Randy Bachman was our headline act for the event. Accompanying Randy were his son, JUNO Award winner and Billboard #1 artist: Tal Bachman (‘She’s So High’) and Platinum recording artist and former JUNO Awards judge, Mick Dalla-Vee.

Rock 4 A Reason House Band
Rock 4 A Reason raised a whopping $47,188.50, thus surpassing their original funding target of $30,000. Proceeds raised were used to purchase two new Rhino-laryngoscopes with HD Video Systems, a critical piece of diagnostic imaging equipment used for initial diagnosis and for follow up consultations for head and neck cancer patients.
